Each time I paint a portrait I feel that I learn something new about humanity. I believe that capturing a portrait is more than simply something visual, the task is to encapsulate the spirit and the life in front of me. I always endeavour to make my models feel as confident and comfortable as possible, often having long conversations with them while I paint. My models have told me that the process has helped them to feel a deeper sense of self-understanding and self-acceptance.
